Job Description

 

 

What are the Key Deliverables in this role ?

 

Financial Outcomes

  • Oversee accurate and timely month-end and year-end close activities for general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of all journal entries and account reconciliations in line with company policies & accounting standards.
  • Manage inter-company transactions and ensure timely reconciliation and settlement of balances.
  • Drive reduction of errors, discrepancies, and financial risks through strong controls and process improvement.
  • Review and approve account reconciliations, supporting documents, and ledger entries to ensure audit readiness.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls within treasury operations to reduce financial risks and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Customer Service

  • Act as primary point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding GL, reconciliation, and inter-company matters.
  • Provide timely support to business units, finance teams, and auditors by delivering required documentation and clarifications.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of issues related to account mismatches, reconciliation discrepancies, or process bottlenecks.
  • Gather feedback from stakeholders to continuously enhance service delivery and responsiveness.

Internal Processes

 

  • Lead a team of 15 to 20 team members (including 2 team leads), ensuring effective delegation, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Standardize and optimize GL and reconciliation processes across regions/business units.
  • Implement robust controls and maintain up-to-date process documentation to ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Monitor key process metrics (e.g., turnaround time, error rates) to identify gaps and drive improvements.
  • Support smooth month-end and year-end close by maintaining up-to-date records and reconciling accounts promptly.
  • Facilitate clear documentation and knowledge sharing within the team to enable effective onboarding and cross-training.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing workflows and implementing best practices.

  • Invest in development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and targeted learning opportunities.

What are the Critical success factors for the Role?

  • Master’s degree in commerce in Finance/CA/CMA
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in accounting/GL/reconciliation functions
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role; experience managing large teams
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Knowledge of SAP – ERP system
  • Willingness to work as per customer timelines- Global
  • Experience in SSC/ BPO/ KPO

 

What are the Desirable success factors for the Role?

  • End to end Knowledge of GL, Recons & Inter-company function in the consumer products industry.
  • Good SAP knowledge and Excel skills
  • Good communication skills and stakeholder management.
