Role Overview

The Associate Manager – D2C Operations will be responsible for end‑to‑end operational execution across vendor management, logistics, warehouse operations, inventory management, and customer fulfillment for the D2C channel. The role ensures high service levels, optimized cost, compliance with SOPs, and superior customer experience through strong coordination with warehouses, vendors, category, planning, and logistics partners.


What are the Key Deliverables in this role ?


 Vendor Management (Logistics & Service Partners)

  • Lead onboarding new logistics and warehousing vendors ensuring operational readiness.
  • Manage vendor agreements including creation, renewal, and compliance tracking.
  • Monitor vendor KPIs (RTO%, delivery SLAs, TAT, accuracy) and drive performance improvement.
  • Implement corrective actions to reduce RTOs, failed deliveries, and exceptions.
  • Negotiate vendor commercial terms, contracts, and annual rate revisions to optimize cost and service reliability.
  • Ensure timely clearance of vendor invoices and payment settlements.
  • Drive shortages/damages settlement and ensure timely closure with vendors.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Oversee operations of 3rd‑party D2C warehouses ensuring hygiene, SOP compliance and efficient execution.
  • Conduct and participate in quarterly warehouse audits; ensure timely closure of audit observations.
  • Work closely with S&OP to ensure adequate stock availability at D2C warehouses and adherence to inventory norms.
  • Manage replenishment cycles, safety stock levels, and ensure zero‑stockout scenarios.
  • Coordinate with Category teams to liquidate aging, slow‑moving, and near‑expiry stock.
  • Drive expiry management processes to minimize write‑offs and losses.

D2C Order Fulfillment & Logistics Operations

  • Monitor order cycle times from order receipt to delivery and proactively address delays.
  • Ensure 100% compliance with D2C logistics SOPs for dispatch, packaging, and documentation.
  • Track and report daily order status, dispatch progress, exceptions, and delivery performance.
  • Lead daily escalation resolution related to delayed deliveries, wrong shipments, missing items, and customer complaints.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) for delayed dispatches, failed deliveries, transit damages, and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Performance Management, Data Reporting & Analytics

  • Develop, maintain, and publish dashboards on dispatch performance, order cycle times, transporter metrics, and delivery KPIs.
  • Provide data‑based insights to category and planning teams on demand patterns, service gaps, capacity constraints, and delivery lead times.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance speed, accuracy, delivery reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead daily/weekly operational reviews with plants, warehouses, logistics partners, and category teams.
  • Strengthen fulfillment reliability via better planning, automation, and integration of systems (SAP, WMS).

 

 

What are the Critical success factors for the Role ?

  • Qualification: BE / BTech / Graduate (MBA in Operations preferred)
  • Experience: 6–8 years in logistics operations, D2C fulfillment, primary transportation, or supply chain execution
  • Experience in FMCG, eCommerce supply chain, or high-velocity consumer goods preferred
  • Prior experience using TMS / ERP systems is desirable.
