How does this Job align to our Strategy?

This role supports the Tata Eaglescliffe site by ensuring all  site colleagues have the skills, capability and compliance needed to deliver safe, efficient and quality-focused Operations.

Where do you come in as?                            

You will lead training compliance across the Eaglescliffe manufacturing site, ensuring all colleagues, particularly operators and engineers, have the right skills, materials and support to work safely and effectively. Working with People, Operations, Health and Safety, key stakeholders and international teams.  You will coordinate site training plans, keep capacity plans up to date, and support future capability and project planning through training needs analysis, skills mapping, launch readiness, project timelines and resource planning. You will also manage external training within budget, share learning and best practice across markets, and work with Health and Safety to ensure the site remains audit-ready through accurate training records, compliance evidence, gap tracking, corrective actions and timely escalation of requirements.

What are the Key Deliverables in this role?

 

Financial Outcomes

  • Manage training budgets effectively by ensuring all spend is aligned to business priorities, manufacturing capacity, and mandatory compliance requirements. This includes raising purchase orders, sourcing cost-effective external training and materials, monitoring spending against budget, and identifying risks, overspending or cost-saving opportunities at an early stage.
  • The use of internal capability before engaging external providers, ensuring external training is only used where it adds value or is legally or commercially required.
  • Track training fulfilment rates and return on investment through compliance improvements, operational performance measures and training outcomes, reducing non-attendance, cancellation costs, and wasted investment.

 

Customer Service

  • Ensure training outcomes are aligned to site and stakeholder needs by building strong relationships with Operations, Engineering, Health & Safety, People and Manufacturing teams.
  • Provide clear communication on training plans, schedules and compliance requirements with manager & responding to site needs in a timely and practical way.
  • Use stakeholder feedback and evaluation outcomes to improve training delivery, ensuring content remains relevant, accessible and fit for purpose.
  • Support managers and colleagues with guidance on training pathways, compliance expectations and development opportunities, helping to build colleague confidence, capability, and engagement.

 

Internal Processes

  • Plan, schedule and communication training activity up to 12 months in advance, aligned to business objectives, manufacturing capacity plans, shift patterns and operational requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate site training calendar, training matrices and management information to track training hours, completion rates, attendance, non-attendance and compliance gaps.
  • Deliver structured and ad hoc training, including SOP training, behavioural training, project rollouts, new starter requirements and activity that supports continuous improvement. Ensure SOP training is planned, completed, recorded and refreshed in line with site standards, operational changes and audit requirements.
  • Engage weekly with site teams to review compliance plans, training requirements, management information and site feedback, agreeing clear actions, owners and timelines.
  • Escalate risks were training delivery; compliance or capacity may impact safe, legal or operational performance.

 

Innovation and Learning

  • Identify capability gaps through training needs, management information and feedback, working with the wider team to build plans aligned to Tata’s For Better ambition, Growth Mindset and Code of Conduct.
  • Coach and upskill managers and site teams to build capability, ownership and continuous improvement across the site.

 

Health & Safety / Compliance Accountability

  • Maintain safe, legal and audit-ready training compliance by reviewing compliance reports, supporting data integrity through regular audits, escalating gaps where required and ensuring KPI targets are achieved. This supports Tata’s commitment to operating responsibly, living the Tata Code of Conduct and delivering safe, compliant manufacturing operations with no compromises.

 

What are the Critical success factors for the Role ?

 

  • Strong knowledge of training compliance, training delivery, learning theory and evaluation approaches, with the ability to deliver engaging and effective training that supports continuous improvement and enhances site performance.
  • Knowledge of electronic management information systems, food safety and health and safety requirements, with the ability to maintain accurate records and support audit-ready compliance.
  • Strong understanding of SOP governance, including the ability to support the review, communication, training and record-keeping of Standard Operating Procedures to ensure colleagues are working to current, approved and compliant methods.
  • Ability to create an environment where colleagues feel confident to share ideas, issues and concerns, supporting open communication, collaboration and Tata’s Growth Mindset and Behaviors.
  • Strong stakeholder management, coaching and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels and support managers, People teams and operational colleagues.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver training solutions aligned to business requirements, manufacturing capacity, and compliance priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritisation and time management skills, with the ability to work autonomously, deliver under pressure and take ownership of personal development.
