How does this Job align to our Strategy?

 

This role supports the successful identification and implementation of process and machinery improvement projects aligned to the strategic intent of the business. It provides technical resource support to engineering craft disciplines across the business, helping to continuously improve product quality, safety and overall equipment performance. While predominantly based at the Eaglescliffe Factory, the role may also support capital projects at other global TCP locations as required.

Where do you come in as?                            

      

You will lead and support engineering-based capital and continuous improvement projects through the full business lifecycle, from concept and detailed definition through to approval, implementation and benefits realisation. This includes developing specifications, preparing Capital Funding Requests, managing suppliers and contractors, controlling project budgets, communicating progress and ensuring machinery introductions meet company standards for food safety, health and safety, product quality and production output.

What are the Key Deliverables in this role ?

Financial Outcomes

  • Develop robust business cases and Capital Funding Requests, negotiating costs with suppliers and controlling project budgets within agreed tolerances.
  • Deliver projects within approved capital expenditure budgets, achieving agreed cost savings, efficiency improvements and return on investment (ROI) targets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve asset reliability, operational efficiency and productivity to support site financial objectives.

 

Customer Service

  • Ensure project delivery supports customer requirements through improved quality, safety, cost, delivery and production output.
  • Minimise operational disruption during project implementation and support the achievement of customer service, OTIF and quality performance targets.

 

Internal Processes

  • Manage projects through the full lifecycle from concept, brief and specification through to approval, implementation, evaluation, benefits realisation and operational handover.
  • Generate User Requirement Specifications (URS), detailed project plans, risk assessments and progress updates while managing machinery introduction in line with company standards.
  • Manage project risks, contractors, commissioning activities, change controls and project governance requirements to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Build effective relationships with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement and external suppliers to ensure stakeholder alignment and project success.
  • Provide training, communication and support to colleagues to facilitate the successful adoption of new equipment, systems and ways of working.

Innovation and Learning

  • Apply data-led continuous improvement tools, Lean Manufacturing principles and structured problem-solving techniques to investigate, understand and resolve key issues.
  • Identify and implement innovative technologies, automation opportunities and sustainability improvements that enhance operational performance, reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Share best practice, lessons learned and technical expertise across projects and teams to drive organisational capability and continuous improvement.

 

Health & Safety / Compliance Accountability

  • Work safely and ensure all projects comply with current regulations, legislation, company policies, contractor controls, permit systems, food safety, health and safety, PUWER, ATEX, COSHH and HACCP requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, machinery safety and contractor management requirements, including relevant engineering standards and legislation.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by identifying, assessing and controlling project risks, ensuring the safe design, installation, commissioning and operation of equipment and processes.

 

 

What are the Critical success factors for the Role ?

  • Strong project management capability, including planning and organising engineering-based capital projects, developing specifications, preparing Capital Funding Requests, managing budgets, reporting progress and delivering equipment in line with company standards. Requires strong commercial awareness, risk assessment capability, contractor control and permit system knowledge, electrical/control engineering competence, PLC and electrical control systems knowledge, and experience working safely within an FMCG environment.

What are the Desirable success factors for the Role ?

  • Desirable success factors include AutoCAD experience, PRINCE2 or APMP qualification, Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean Manufacturing experience, 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, HNC/HND or degree in an electrical/control engineering discipline, NEBOSH, CDM, CE Marking, cost management, ATEX, PUWER, HACCP, experience of HV/LV systems, PLCs and delivering effective change.

The role holder will be passionate about engineering, packaging, machinery development, machinery safety, continuous improvement, data-driven decisions, safe working, team working, tight deadlines, customer requirements, getting things done and supporting activity across different locations where required.
