Job Description

 

 

What are the Key Deliverables in this role ?

Financial Outcomes

  •  Lead strategy projects (strategy formulation and execution) and deliver high quality outcomes across key KPIs. Examples of strategy projects include growth/revenue acceleration, new market entry, building a new business/channel, cost reduction, portfolio simplification/optimization, working capital reduction, supply chain optimization etc.
  •  Help to deliver the business case (topline, bottom line) on acquisitions and/or new business growth

 

Customer Service

  • Project management of Strategy projects: prepare detailed project plans for strategy execution, in collaboration with cross functional teams (category, sales, operations, digital etc. – as needed)
  • Work with cross-functional project teams on execution pieces to ensure timely delivery of the targets. 
  • Highlight key enablers required to deliver the project successfully (e.g. additional resourcing, investments needed etc.) and help the project team get access to the required resources in a timely manner.
  • Drive cross functional discussions to remove bottlenecks, call out bottlenecks/risks early, and ensure timely intervention of senior leadership, where required  
  • Support on M&A projects: work with the VP-M&A on presentations and financial models for evaluation of  M&A targets

Internal Processes

  • Review decks: Prepare and circulate weekly/fortnightly project review decks to TCPL senior management. Drive the review deck discussions, circulate action items and drive the cross-functional team to work/deliver on the action items. 
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress update presentations for Strategy team and for the Group CFO.
  • Contribute to the TCPL Annual report MD&A, monthly industry updates, Nielsen market updates. Ensure that a coherent story comes through for inventor(s) on company activities for the year as well as strategy. Incorporate changes/ feedback from various members.
  • Others: Preparing and updating critical documents for the CEO/CFO e.g. key discussions with industry bodies, senior government / regulatory meetings, work on cross-team capability building (e.g. identify and onboard new databases/expert panels etc.) Creating strategy dashboards  

Innovation and Learning

  • Work with the indirect reporting team to improve output, help them get more time with senior management so that they understand perspectives better and it helps them improve on their thinking. Provide team as needed for initiatives e.g., mentoring, women network etc.
  • Create analytical frameworks that can be leveraged across business categories and a wide variety of problem statements.
  • Develop consumer & industry insights from primary & secondary research to come up with innovative ideas / solutions
  • Understand TCPL’s sustainability goals and its impact on our business

 

What are the Critical success factors for the Role ?

  •  MBA or CA from premier institute
  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience across Management Consulting and/or Strategy and operating roles in Consumer goods (B2C) sectors
  • Strong Commercial acumen with good experience of building business strategies including financial models, analyzing business trends (market, competition, category, consumer etc.), end to end understanding of revenue and cost levers, driving implementation of front end transformation projects (e.g. setting up a new sales channel, new market entry, driving sales productivity across channels) as well as backend transformation projects (e.g. cost benchmarking & cost reduction, portfolio rationalization, working capital optimization, supply chain transformation etc.)  
  • Critical “hard” skills necessary for the role are (i) Strong financial / excel modelling skills (particularly P&L) (ii) Strong problem solving / analytical skills – ability to quickly structure a problem and grasp new concepts (iii) Crisp, well synthesized and articulate written and oral communication across a variety of formats (PPT, word, emails etc.)  (iv) Project management / Program management: ability to drive outcomes and meet project deliverable timelines while leading a cross functional team
  • Strong influencing skills & ability to work with Senior Leaders across functions.

  • FMCG industry experience
