Role objective:

  • To execute and drive new product development ideas in the pipeline to support for the Packaged Foods Categories focused on spices, staples and premium categories for Tata Sampann, Tata Simply Better and emerging new value-added categories.
  • Job holders will be responsible for development and delivery of Packaged Foods products across innovation, cost innovation and business support projects, under the supervision of Senior Manager- R&D.
  • The role must work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and contribute in delivering the agreed NPD agenda for the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Work with the Senior Manager- R&D, Spices & Staples to deliver NPD projects:

  • Responsible for delivering all technical aspects of the product development brief (including formulation, processing, consumer testing, shelf life, product costs, compliance & safety, etc.) on Foods projects meeting the targets on timeline, cost, and consumer acceptance
  • Execute the product development plan with focus on prototype development, pilot plant/factory trials and launch support, collaborating with CFT and third parties as required
  • Managing food safety aspects of the development process and liaising with the compliance team to ensure appropriate regulatory requirements are adhered to.
  • Create ingredient, product and process specifications including the recipe/BoM on the prescribed Specification Management Systems
  • Design and manage sensory testing plan and protocols using the specified digital tool and platforms.
  • Design and Manage stability study protocols for the projects assigned
  • General upkeep of the NPD laboratory, Sensory Room, Storage areas and Pilot plant with assistance, wherever required
  • Timely & Appropriate inputs for successfully resolving process / product issues at manufacturing locations.
  • Maintenance and servicing of NPD lab equipment
  • Management of temporary resources and lab attendants

Qualifications and Essential Requirements

  • Graduation/ Post graduation in food science / Food Technology or other related discipline
  • Proven 1-2 years of experience working within product development / Innovation within FMCG organization
  • Creative product development experience and able to demonstrate a thorough understanding on formulation strategies and processing technologies.
  • Good understanding of sensory evaluation, packaging and its interactions with product safety and acceptance through shelf life.
  • Creative product development experience and able to demonstrate a thorough understanding on formulation strategies and processing technologies.
  • Ability to multi-task and work at pace.
