Job Description

 

 

 

What are the Key Deliverables in this role?

Financial Outcomes

 

  • Create annual crop plans and acreage targets aligned with company procurement strategy
  • Support productivity improvements and quality enhancement of organic produce
  • Develop specified Crops Package of practices, Cost of Cultivation, Cost reduction strategy to farmers, Crop price optimisation to the Organisation
  • Supervise organic produce procurement from registered growers; ensure segregation of protocols
  • Maintain lot-wise traceability throughout collection centres /warehouses to dispatch (minimizes losses/rejections)
  • Coordinate logistics/dispatch planning to ensure timely delivery

Customer Service

  • Mobilize small/marginal farmers into grower groups/FPOs; build long-term relationships
  • Conduct farmer meetings, awareness programs, and handle grievances/dispute resolution
  • Coordinate with Local Govt Agri Department / KVK / Agri University / Agri Research stations for engagement of farmers training and developments
  • Maintain high levels of farmer retention and engagement
  • Guide farmers on organic cultivation practices (soil, pest, crop rotation, bio-inputs)
  • Regularly visit fields to monitor activities and support farmers

 

Internal Processes

  • Develop and manage organic contract farming projects with smallholder farmers
  • Identify suitable crop clusters and farmer groups; execute farmer agreements/contracts
  • Manage farm-to-market operations, ensuring end-to-end traceability
  • Establish and maintain a robust Internal Control System (ICS)
  • Develop ICS manuals, SOPs, policies, and internal standards in local languages
  • Ensure compliance management, role clarity, and organizational structure within farmer groups
  • Liaise with certification bodies for audit readiness and certification renewals
  • Organize 100% internal inspection of all registered farmers at least twice annually
  • Supervise Internal Inspectors/Field Officers; monitor contamination risks; address non-compliance
  • Ensure audit readiness throughout the year (NPOP/NOP/JAS/EU protocols)
  • Coordinate all aspects of organic certification (documentation, audits, transaction certificates)
  • Address audit findings/non-conformities; RCA and corrective action submission
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation (farmer database, farm maps, diaries, procurement, audit reports, etc

 

Innovation and Learning

 

  • Establish grower groups and build structured ICS frameworks (institutional capability development)
  • Develop ICS manuals, SOPs in local languages (knowledge democratization)
  • Promote awareness of organic standards & sustainable agriculture practices
  • Lead and supervise teams (Field Officers, Inspectors, Committees, Procurement teams)
  • Conduct regular training for farmers (organic practices, documentation)
  • Conduct training for ICS staff/inspectors (audit, compliance, documentation)
  • Introduce improved organic practices, productivity methods, and risk mitigation approaches

 

What are the Critical success factors for the Role?

 

  • B.Tech. in Engineering, B.Sc./M.Sc. in Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Extension, Soil Science, Organic Farming, Environmental Science, Rural Management, or other related disciplines.
  • Minimum 5–10 years’ experience in: Organic farming projects / contract farming / grower group management / ICS operations / certification processes / agri-procurement / supply chain management/ Crop development/Good Agricultural practices
  • In-depth knowledge of NPOP, USDA NOP & EU Organic Standards
  • Hands-on experience with organic certification procedures & ICS management (including Tracenet handling)
  • SAP knowledge and Digital tool mobile application farmers management system
  • Experience working with small/marginal farmers or rural communities
  • Mandatory Language Requirements (spoken), if any: Hindi
